Fuller Road.
A new South Head avocado orchard is underway.
Fuller Road is a 2020 project transforming an 8 hectare lifestyle block into a 4 hectare, 400 tree avocado orchard and livestock paddocks in steeper areas.
Scoping
Part of the scoping process is identifying which areas of your land will be the most productive, and which will be suitable for what you want, be that planting trees, creating livestock paddocks, or returning areas to native bush. This project was avocado focussed, so wet areas were carved off and a plan for 400 trees was created.
Plan Visualisation
After drone photography is combined with Google maps and onsite measurements to achieve a true-scale map, we produce a detailed plan covering tree placement, culverts, fencing, bore and tanks, sheds and domestic areas around the home.
Contouring and Clearing
We manage earthworks and arborists to clear undesirable trees and shape the land for your intended use. This project required a large number of overgrown pines to be cleared and turned into an ideal source of mulch for use on the avocado trees.
Irrigation and Shelters
The Fuller Road proect included 900 casuarina shelter trees and 400 avocado trees planted and irrigated - a process we managed and implemented. Individual shelters are built for the avos - ( left up for 2 years ). Windbreak cloth has also been added to shelterbelt lines.
We enjoyed the company and good work of some awesome local contractors - Treescape, Andy Holst, Peter Fletcher, Richard Den Haan and Geoff Sawyer.
Fuller Road had its 400 avocado trees planted in early December 2020. Watch this space over the next few years as it grows into a profitable orchard.
